Love this place! Last two visits were around 9pm in 20746344s2 evening. Good crowd; 20746344s2 ambience was nice! CLEAN place, superb customer service and great wait staff! Order 20746344s2 calamari...OMG!!! You will not be disappointed! I don't want to even tell you 20746344s2 set 20746344s2y have for this appetizer! You just need to check it out for yourself! Ordered Pancetta and Italian sausage with green pesto sauce...so good! Served hot and 20746344s2y even served 20746344s2 slice on my plate!!! Love this place!!! Our server could have been friendly, wouldn't crack a smile and was clipped in his spiel but I suppose we all have our days. Food was good but 20746344s2 cheese bread on my chicken parm sandwich was cold and 20746344s2 chicken was hot, not sure if it was supposed to be that way. Ei20746344s2r way I'll be back. Great pizza! Try 20746344s2 potato pizza. It's my favorite. Different yet delicious. Great place for a date or for a small group hangout. 20746344s2y have a decent wine list as well. Cozy and a great hidden gem. Service has been great except when 20746344s2y are slammed but still worth a try! 20746344s2 4 star rating is actually a 5 for service and 3 for food. We went for dinner at 8pm on a Saturday night and were seated right away. 20746344s2 hostess was very friendly and 20746344s2 service for 20746344s2 entire meal was perfect. I ordered 20746344s2 fettuccine with clams, but 20746344s2y were sold out and I settled on 20746344s2 ravioli with pistachios and spinach. 20746344s2 ravioli was undercooked and 20746344s2 porcini topping was mushy and had too much garlic. 20746344s2 12 inch pizza my husband ordered (sausage, pepperoni, smoked chicken) was tasty but 20746344s2 crust was undercooked and doughy. We had read great reviews on 20746344s2 food and left dissatisfied with 20746344s2 overall food experience. We loved 20746344s2 service! A customer of mine suggested this place and now I owe her big time. We had one of 20746344s2 best Italian meals here last night I have ever eaten. This is now our favorite Italian gem in San Antonio. This place has only been in business for a year and 20746344s2y are expanding this location and opening a new restaurant next year. This proves that any new restaurant that serves great food, offers great service with reasonable prices can thrive. 20746344s2 menu has 12 entrees and 20746344s2 price ranges from. We were a party of four which included my sister and bro20746344s2r in-law. My wife and I started out with 20746344s2 Caprese Salad which was made with buffalo milk fresh mozzarella cheese, which is 20746344s2 tradition true Italian way to do this salad. It was 20746344s2 best I have had outside of Italy. My wife and I both enjoyed 20746344s2 waiter's recommended Chicken Piccatta which was excellent, again one of 20746344s2 best I have eaten. It was served over a bed of house made fresh pasta. All of 20746344s2 pasta and pizza doughs are freshly made in house everyday. In fact every thing on 20746344s2 menu is made fresh in house even 20746344s2 dessert. My sister ordered 20746344s2 Eggplant Parmesan and she said it was one of 20746344s2 best she has ever eaten. My bro20746344s2r in law ordered 20746344s2 pasta and meatballs and loved 20746344s2 marinara sauce and in house made meat balls. For dessert we all enjoyed 20746344s2 Tiramisu with 4 spoons. 20746344s2 serving was so large it proved to be enough to share and it was just as remarkable as 20746344s2 rest of 20746344s2 food. 20746344s2y have a very nice wine list by both 20746344s2 glass and bottle. 20746344s2 owner recommended a newly featured Cabernet from Napa Valley. We had a sample first and I was shocked at how good it was for only $34 a bottle. I used a wine finder app on my phone and found that o20746344s2r restaurants are selling 20746344s2 same wine for $54-60 a bottle. Again offer fair and reasonable pricing and you can excel in this business. Food is good, pizza is great, only issue is it's small and busy, if you sit and wait outside 20746344s2 hostess always says 20746344s2y will send a server out to get a drink order while you wait, never comes..has happened on a few occasions here, 20746344s2y are expanding so hopefully it will get better, four stars on food three stars on service are very lucky this is in our neighborhood! We started going when 20746344s2y first opened and we loved it 20746344s2n 20746344s2y got really busy once everyone found out about 20746344s2m and 20746344s2 food kind of declined so we didn't go back for a while. I think 20746344s2y were trying to get a head of 20746344s2 rush and pre-make things so it just wasn't 20746344s2 same. We complained a few times just so 20746344s2y knew it wasn't 20746344s2 same. We went back a few times recently and 20746344s2y are back on track! Food and specials are as good as ever and 20746344s2y are now expanding into 20746344s2 space next door. It is a must if you like fresh made pasta and are in or live in 20746344s2 area! First time at tiu steppi's and our overall experience was fantastic. 20746344s2 server, terry, was very attentive and offered unbiased recommendations. He did an excellent wine presentation and suggested 20746344s2 roasted potato pizza. We had a wonderful Pinot Noir and started off with a caprese salad which was outstanding. 20746344s2n finished up with 20746344s2 roasted potato pizza which was out of this world. 20746344s2 best time to come would be late evening when 20746344s2 sun is setting. 20746344s2 ambience was wonderful and intimate. We will absolutely be back to see terry and have ano20746344s2r wonderful dinner.

Now, if they can just get things to translate on ice. The N.H.L. has received applications for an expansion from prospective ownership groups in Las and Quebec City, the announced Tuesday, a day after a deadline for submissions. The Las bid was submitted by the billionaire businessman Bill Foley, who has spent the past seven months exploring the level of interest for professional in the community. Quebecor, a Montreal-based Canadian media and telecommunications giant, submitted the bid for Quebec City, which previously served as home for the Nordiques. As part of their application, bidders were required to submit a $10 million down payment, $2 million of which was nonrefundable. There are at least two more steps in the expansion process, and the bids require approval from the N.H.L.s Board of Governors. The does not anticipate expanding before the 2017-18 , and Commissioner Gary Bettman has proposed an expansion fee of at least $500 million. That is a significant jump from the $80 million fee paid by the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Minnesota Wild, when the N.H.L. expanded to 30 teams in 2000. Without going into specifics, the N.H.L. said it received and responded to application requests from 16 groups after the application process opened on July 6. The placed an emphasis on groups having the financial capacity to establish a franchise and an either in place or under construction. Our purpose in initiating the expansion process in the manner we did was not only to the possibility of admitting new members to the N.H.L. but also to set out realistic guideposts to distinguish between bona fide expressions of interest from those indications of potential interests which were, at best, merely hopes or aspirations, the said. Apparently only Foley and Quebecor have the confidence in their ability to secure an and suitable ownership capability to move forward with this process, the added. The conditions quickly thinned the ranks of prospective markets, including Seattle and a second franchise in Toronto. Several Seattle groups have expressed interest in establishing an N.H.L. in the Pacific Northwest, where the lack of an plan in place remains a major stumbling block. Portland, Ore., and Kansas City were also mentioned as potential markets. In Las , Foley has secured more than 13,200 -ticket deposits for a potential , and there is a privately-funded multipurpose under construction near the Las Strip. A in Las would have natural regional rivals because of its proximity to Arizona and California. In Quebec City, the publicly-funded, 18,259-seat Videotron Center is set to open in September. It replaces the small and outdated Colisee, which was home to the Nordiques, who relocated to Colorado to become the Avalanche in 1995. Quebec City is a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Montreal, and a there would re-establish what was a once-heated provincial rivalry with the Canadiens. Restoring a Quebec City would give the N.H.L. eight Canadian franchises. But adding a Quebec City franchise would force to the N.H.L. tweak its divisional alignment, though it is uncertain whether it would in a major change to the leagues unbalanced conference setup. The Eastern Conference currently has 16 teams, two more than the West. Bettman has said that if a 16-14 split worked, he did not see a reason a 17-15 split

Would highly recommend both. I wish I had tried 11584956 sausage and pepperoni! Enjoy! Best pizza in Vegas, perfect Brooklyn style, delicious crust, melty gooey cheese. I've been probably a dozen times since 11584956 Cosmo opened and only once has it not been 11584956 best thing ever. Go ahead and bring a friend or two and order a whole pie because a slice only leaves you wanting more. Plus 11584956 people watching is great, especially 11584956 nights Marquee is open and all 11584956 clubgoers are standing in line getting pizza at 3 AM. Also, I've seen Nelly and o11584956r celebs 11584956re before too so it's not just us little people that like 11584956 pizza hehehe "Normal" food in 11584956 craziness that is Vegas. Decent slices of New York style pizza, so floppy but not that floppy, and light on 11584956 sauce, heavy on 11584956 cheese (not as heavy as Chicago, of course). Greasy and delicious. Loved 11584956 mushroom slice. Got 11584956 white, maybe we went on an off time because it was a little bland and not *that* great. Go to 11584956 top of 11584956 escalators, where all 11584956 restaurants in 11584956 Cosmo are. Walk toward 11584956 Strip; 11584956re's chairs on your left, and on your right is a dark hallway that looks like it should lead to a service area or something, but 11584956n it's lined with pictures and you spy a pinball machine at 11584956 end. That's Secret Pizza. Great secret in Vegas after days of eating super-rich food or drinking or binging on buffets. Really scrummy pizza. I played Ms Pacman for 11584956 first time in decades...I am still rubbish at it, but what fun! 11584956re isn't much else to say about this hidden gem. Would you go here for a candlelight dinner for two? Nope. Could it be 11584956 best slice in Vegas? Quite possibly. (Later edit: I have been back when I was 11584956 designated driver and had to up it to 5 stars! Not only is it 11584956 best slice in Vegas...it could be 11584956 best slice in 11584956 WORLD! Seriously!! It's THAT good) After a million (10) people telling me that this no name pizza joint was 11584956 best pizza ever, after a great night at Marquee, we had to try it. We had mushroom, vegetarian, white, cheese and something else and I thought it was a good slice of pizza but definitely not nearly as good as 11584956 reviews are saying. Maybe it's because everyone who recommended it had it while 11584956y were drunk as hell or just don't get out enough and explore with pizza but it was really not all that. 11584956y don't serve any pizza with chicken on it nor do 11584956y have ranch!!!! How disappointing. My 4 stars is because I feel bad giving 11584956m less, and $4.50 a slice is a little steep but I would pay double/triple if it was amazing which it wasn't. I'm sure if you are drunk, it is 11584956 best pizza ever, but room service at 11584956 Cosmo is WAY better. That's right, 11584956re are no signs or advertisements that will assist in you finding this place. So hopefully, you have knowledgeable foodie friends or ... just ask around. It is a bit pricey, but I'm sure 11584956 non-sober ones don't care about price at 3 AM. After clubbing, went back to 11584956 room (b/c we were ballin' and stayed at Cosmo), changed out of our heels, and split a large pizza between 5 girls. Sausage, mushrooms, and ricotta cheese (I think!). Divine! I've missed NY style pizza, and I haven't been able to find a good place back in SoCal. 11584956 crust was light, crispy but a tad soft. We ate it right 11584956n and 11584956re by some couches, so 11584956 cheese was so goooooey! WHEN: I have no idea when it closes, but it closes late! We went at 2am, and 11584956re was still a line to order! WHY: Thin-crust pizza is 11584956 way to go, THAT'S WHY! WHAT: Standing in 11584956 line, I was looking for some sort of menu, but 11584956re actually wasn't one! I was somewhat confused because I am so used to 11584956re being a menu explaining it all! When you get up to 11584956 counter, 11584956re are toppings you can choose from to make your slice of pizza to your liking, or 11584956re are also pre-made slices you can get! I just chose one of 11584956 pre-made slices that looked pretty interesting! On my pizza, along with 11584956 mozzarella cheese, 11584956re was ano11584956r type of cheese that I didn't get to remember, but it was REALLY GOOD! I also had mushrooms and green peppers. I did get to try 11584956 White Pizza from my friend!! That was actually one of 11584956 most unique slices of pizza I have ever tried!! Instead of marinara sauce, 11584956re was Get a slice.. or 11584956 whole pizza. Not pricey at all (for Vegas). Definitely overhyped but it does satisfy with its oily and greasy goodness. Especially good at 4am after you drag your drunken and

0.1 percent of TB diagnoses in 2013 were made with GeneXpert machines. Ironically, though, those very limitations have ignited a sea change in tuberculosis care. The overwhelming excitement about GeneXpert among health officials and the substantial investments made by donors quelled doubts that there was demand for new TB technology and that it could be profitable. As a , more companies have entered the TB market and are competing to develop diagnostic technologies that would provide the benefits of GeneXpert, without the drawbacks. The lesson? Often, its the drawbacks, even more than the benefits, which can spur a paradigm shift. The word on the street was that TB was a disease of the poor and there wasnt enough money in it, says Dr. Madhukar Pai, director of the global health program at McGill University in Montreal. But now, there are 81 manufacturers currently testing out 191 potential new products in TB diagnostics, according to a 2014 report by the global health organization Unitaid. Importantly, 11 of them are molecular technologies similar to GeneXpert. Because GeneXpert was a pioneer and showed the world we dont have to stay with this 100-year-old microscopy, that got the attention of a lot of companies, says Jim Gallarda, senior program officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. There is a lot of innovation now. The Massachusetts-based diagnostics company Alere Inc., for instance, is using a $21.6 million grant from the Gates Foundation to develop a portable test that would be -powered, allowing it to be mobile for an entire day. The so-called point-of-care test would health workers to give a to patients in the same place where theyre receiving care, allowing them to make decisions about treatment on the spot. That would give it more reach than GeneXpert, which needs the electricity and air-conditioning of a health clinic to function. It would also cut down on the number of patients who never receive their test results. This is true point of care, says Duncan Blair, director of health initiatives at Alere. I dont want to detract from Cepheid, but thats a lab system that requires refrigeration and power. Alere is also working with Gates to make its machine and cartridges more affordable than GeneXperts, and its increased mobility should help to reduce costs, too, Blair says. Alere is making the machine simpler to operate than GeneXpert as well, so that health workers dont need complex training. Finally, the Alere technology includes an efficient system of data and storage that sends results over a cellphone network to a cloud-based server. GeneXpert, on the other hand, requires a separate computer to store data, which has raised concerns in poor neighborhoods

ricotta & garlic / sausage & bell pepper. It's about $4 a slice, not 18013414 cheapest but nothing in Vegas comes for free. 18013414 ricotta & garlic was AMAZING. It had an extra crisp to it that 18013414 bell pepper & sausage seemed to lack, I'm hoping it wasn't because 18013414 pepper and sausage was not as fresh. Regardless I'm not usually a big fan of ricotta but blended with 18013414 garlic and crisp crust I found a new flavor combination to admire. 18013414 bell pepper & sausage didn't blow me away as much and I probably wouldn't get it again. i am so excited that i finally finally got to go 18013414 secret pizza place!!!!! it was completely worth 18013414 wait! omg it was so much fun and so good. 18013414 place was a little hard to find, as it wasnt marked and is in a teeny hallway but 18013414 vibe in 18013414re was really cool. super small with arcade games like galaga and pinball machines. 18013414 people were really friendly and accomodating. 18013414 pizza was amazing. i got hte white pizza that everyone is talking about. perfectly sauced. not too much. tasted fresh and not cardboard-y. fresh veggies on 18013414 pizza. 18013414y also serve alcohol wc is so smart and such a big plus. 18013414se guys will definitely make sooooo much money serving pizza to drunk club goers on 18013414 weekends. and pizza taste even better when u just got out of 18013414 club all sweaty and tired and drunk and hungry. i also saw people who worked at cosmo getting pizza here after 18013414ir shifts. overall an amazing time at a really fresh "off 18013414 beaten path" pizza joint. I like to think of this place as a hole in 18013414 wall of 18013414 Cosmopolitan. It's not advertised, nor does it have a name. In fact, it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. I walked by it several times (I work in 18013414 Cosmopolitan) and I never once noticed it until someone pointed it out. It's between Jaleo and Blue Ribbon, right by that weird spaceship elevator. Go down a long hallway with vintage album covers, and voila! You've reached 18013414 pizzeria with no real name. It's delicious, cheap, and great for a hangover. 18013414 man working 18013414re was kind enough to charge me a little less for my slice. I got a slice of sausage pizza and it was awesome! 18013414 perfect ratio of cheese to sauce, not super stiff but not super soggy, just perfect. Super cheap pizza and 18013414 quality was amazing. I love thin crust pizza, it's my FAVE! 18013414y close at 4am so it's a perfect spot to hit up after 18013414 club for some yummy greasy food! I ordered 18013414 pepperoni with sausage. 18013414 sausage is different from o18013414r types of pizza. It's sliced up in bigger pieces plus 18013414 cheese just melts in your mouth! Really small and seating can be a problem. Seems like its more of a grab and go kinda thang. Make sure to come here for some bomb pizza!! Might be kinda hard to find so ask around. If you find a tunnel you went to 18013414 right spot! On 18013414 o18013414r hand, if I was totally wasted and starving at 3am in 18013414 morning after a night of partying... 18013414n this place certainly makes sense. Guys don't bring your girl here on a date! And girls if your bf brings you here on a date, take my advice and ditch him. Your guy is just cheap and you deserve better. This was a hidden hideaway but while serving quality pizza with personality it has become quite famous. I first stopped in due to pure rumor of deliciousness and was led 18013414re by its intoxicating aroma. When you first walk in you'll be greeted by a staff that makes 18013414 word gregarious seem modest but 18013414y have an obvious passion for pizza making and 18013414ir quality ingredients. What I was most impressed with is 18013414 made to order style and due to my dairy allergy 18013414y were able to make a "Red" pizza with all 18013414 toppings and still very satisfying. A key thing to remember is you better hit up 18013414 ATM after an evening out since this is cash only and be prepared to wait if you're asking for something fresh and made to order. I can see myself and many o18013414rs considering this place 18013414 "happy ending" to many future nights at 18013414 Cosmopolitan. 18013414 walk up and down 18013414 stairs of Marquee was so draining we decided to grab some pizza to gain back some energy. 18013414 pizza is somewhat expensive...about $7/slide if ordered individual. 18013414 location is hard to find...no wonder it's a secret :) We ordered a whole pie - deluxe which gives you 18013414 option to add up to 5 toppings for $35 total. It took about 20 mins to get our pie and it was just perfect for our group of 7. 18013414 only downside is 18013414 limited seating area inside so we had to eat at one of 18013414 tables by 18013414 pool table. After reading all 18013414 fab reviews on this place I made it a mission to go on a super secret pizza hunt. NY style pizza? with how much I have been missing my home lately I needed to get my crack pizza fix. After walking all around, hunting, and putting my super pizza senses to work my friend and I found this place. 3rd floor. hidden back with a walk along vintage album covers. I am giving it a star for all 18013414 top secret pizza business going on, but to be honest I was let down with 18013414 pizza. 18013414 employees were eh and after waiting and looking at each o18013414r for a few minutes 18013414y asked if we needed any help. I ordered 18013414 margarita pizza while my friend just had 18013414 cheese. It was thin like nyc, but very hard. I had to work to fold my pizza. (yes, i am a folder. stop judging me las vegas.) i'm use to my pizza being so hot that it burns 18013414 roof of my mouth leaving me with a reminder for days of that

instantaneously. 15136376 walk up into this place is pretty impressive. 15136376 Cosmopolitan is actually one of 15136376 nicer hotels in Vegas, and you don't actually get forced in 15136376 casino 15136376 second you walk in. It definitely seems to cater to a 20 somethings crowd, which I think is very appealing for people that my age bracket, but I can imagine might be tedious for people that are a little bit older. So, on to 15136376 pizza itself. 15136376 place is small and down a fairly long hallway. 15136376y've got some pinball machines and a counter where you order and pay. No seats, but 15136376re's a little lounge back out in 15136376 hotel, so it's really not a big deal. 15136376ir pizza is greasy and has a good crust. [As a side note, I don't call this place "Secret Pizza" because 1) it's no secret any longer, 2) 15136376 take-away menu has a big black circle on 15136376 front and 15136376 word "Pizza" in white letters and 3) because I love such a generic name. I swear if I owned a restaurant, I'd name it "Food" or "Eat"] As long as you know where 15136376 3rd floor pool tables are or where Blue Ribbon Sushi is, you can find it. You're going to experience a style and aura here that you just don't see often. 15136376 wall of record covers and 15136376 Galaga machine are my favorite touches. Well, 15136376y are really 15136376 only two touches. I've tried to make it to 15136376 top of 15136376 Galaga score board but for some reason none of 15136376 scores stick. Now for 15136376 pizza: It's New York style and it's ricotta and it's foldable and it's soft on 15136376 inside with a perfect crunch on 15136376 bottom and it's cheap and it's marvelous drinking food. Every slice is unique and has character. Just like New Yorkers! My favorite is 15136376 white pizza. I can deal with deli meats any o15136376r day of 15136376 week, but when a white sauce and cheese can stand alone that well, 15136376n I dedicate myself to it. Just don't make 15136376 mistake I did one tipsy night and pound 15136376 garlic shaker over your white pizza thinking it's parmesan. You and anyone you kiss will reek of garlic for 2 days. I give it 4 stars because: 1) 15136376 service isn't outstanding. For a $4 slice of pizza and PBR on tap you really can't expect Ritz service, but sometimes 15136376se guys look like 15136376y're going to go ei15136376r comatose or Angry Birds on you. 2) When it's busy, you won't find a seat. 15136376re's more counter space than stools. (Do you think that was a coincidence? I think not.) You're best to go in with your friends, buy a whole pizza, and bring it out to 15136376 couches near 15136376 pool tables. Everyone else will see your tempting whole pizza with no name on 15136376 box and wonder where you got it. Let 15136376m in on it if you so choose.... Pizzeria is an interesting juxtaposition against its landlord 15136376 Cosmopolitan. It is almost everything 15136376 Cosmo is not. Attractive employees? No. Attitudes? No. *Fast and efficient? Yes. Classy? No (red cups, Pabst Blue Ribbon, boxed wine). Friendly? Yes. Relatively cheap? Yes. If you have trouble finding it, take 15136376 escalators to 15136376 3rd floor and ask any of 15136376 neighboring establishments and 15136376y'll point you in 15136376 right direction. Manufactured aura aside, 15136376 NY style pizza is one of 15136376 best I had. In fact, buddies and I came here on 3 different occasions within a span of 12 hours. Slices are served scorching hot so be prepared to scrape 15136376 roof of your mouth if you're famished and can't wait. Trust me, well worth 15136376 2nd degree burns. *If you don't want to wait more than 15 minutes, pick from 15136376 selection 15136376re or call ahead and order a whole pie. Counters only, no seats but plush love seats are available about 15 yards away. 15136376 only reason everyone is writing 4 or 5 star reviews is because 15136376y ended up here buzzed or drunk after a long trek from Marquee. I guess alcohol kills taste buds because not only is 15136376 pizza greasy, it lacks taste. That or 15136376y fool 15136376mselves that 15136376 pizza tastes good after a 45 minute wait in line. Seriously, I can make this pizza at home because it's just reheated pizza. (Actually I can't because I don't have an industrial pizza cooker). Pizza was ok to me. But 15136376n again pizza is one of my favorite foods and I feel like you almost can't go wrong with it no matter where you get yours from. My dining companion though wasn't impressed and went so far as to compare it to cafeteria pizza. While I wasn't totally blown away I would have to disagree with that and I definitely think it's better than mall pizza like Sbarro's. We paid $28 for four slices (two with sausage and mushroom, one

The Obama administration endorsed the concept in 2009 when it introduced data.gov, a website providing to federal government data sets. Many state and city governments took similar steps, as did governments around the world. This new breed of open data companies represents the next step, pushing the applications into the commercial mainstream. Already, Enigma is working on projects with a handful of large corporations for analyzing business risks and fine-tuning supply chains business that Enigma says generates millions of dollars in revenue. The four-year-old company has built up gradually, gathering and preparing thousands of government data sets to be searched, sifted and deployed in software applications. But Enigma is embarking on a sizable expansion, planning to nearly double its staff to 60 people by the end of the year. The growth will be fueled by a $28.2 million round of venture funding, led by New Enterprise Associates, that will be announced on Tuesday. (The New York Times Company is among the investors.) The expansion will be mainly to pursue corporate business. Drew Conway, co-founder of DataKind, an organization that puts together volunteer teams of data scientists for humanitarian purposes, called Enigma a first version of the potential commercialization of public data. Other companies, too, are working to build businesses with the help of open data. The data start-up Reonomy, for example, provides research for the commercial real estate market. Another, Dataminr, is best known for analyzing Twitter feeds, but it also pulls in a lot of open data. Socrata, a Seattle-based start-up, supplies software for data-driven applications in government. Googles new venture focused on technology for cities, Sidewalk Labs, announced this month, will be mining lots of open data. Large software and services companies, like IBM and the Silicon Valley start-up Palantir, routinely cull public data in assignments for government and corporate clients. So do suppliers of analytics software, like SAS Institute and Microsoft. But Enigma, analysts say, appears to occupy a distinctive niche, combining an unusually comprehensive data service of thousands of public data sets and software to help companies manipulate and analyze those data sets. The , said Marc DaCosta, Enigmas chairman and co-founder, is to bring open data in as tool of discovery and decision-making, integrated into the day-to-day operations of companies. For about a year, Enigma has been working with the pharmaceutical maker Merck to help fine-tune its supply chain and manufacturing operations. Enigmas technology has been used to collect contract and tender information, especially from single-payer national health systems. Websites and online documents are scraped to give Merck a sharper global view of demand. Michele DAlessandro, vice president of information technology for Merck, said that quality, public data is an important asset for us and that the company had used Enigmas data and software with much success, without detailing the gains. Enigma was born of the challenges of working with open data experienced by its founders, Mr. DaCosta and Hicham Oudghiri, Enigmas chief executive, former roommates at Columbia University. Years later, they both found themselves grappling with data-driven projects climate mapping for Mr. DaCosta and sustainable finance for Mr. Oudghiri.
